I am Laura Ramos. I am your Science Teacher.
I am very excited to get to know all of you this year! Just in case you are curious as to who I am, you came to the right place!
This will be my ninth year at Dundee Ridge and my fifth teaching science. For my first four years I taught Language Arts and reading, and man, was I nervous when Ms. Gideons and Mrs. Rios asked me to teach science! I always loved the subject, but I always felt like it was beyond my depth of knowledge; however, I never back down from a challenge. Thinking I would try it one year and maybe ask for something else the next, I was surprised at myself when I found that I loved what I was doing. With every topic in 7th grade science, I found that we (my students and I) were making a difference and really, truly starting to understand the world around us. That sense of discovery and wonder wasn't just experienced by my classes, but me as well. I became very passionate about my subject, and now, I don't think I ever want to teach anything else! I know we will have a similar, enthralling experience together this year. And, if I can master this, so can you!
I was born and raised in Winter Haven, Florida, and I still live there today. I did move away for a little while when I attended college at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. I graduated in 2008 with a BA in English-Creative Writing. That beautiful lady next to me in the above picture is my dog Zeppelin (who you will hear a lot about this year). In my spare time, I enjoy going to concerts, Disney, nature, shopping, the beach, animals, and being with my friends.
